My “E3″ 2007 Predictions – The Big 3

E3 2007 will kick off on Tuesday July 10th at 8:30 PM PST when Microsoft has their scheduled press conference. Then on Wednesday morning Sony and Nintendo will have theirs.
This year’s E3 will not be as extravagant as the last few years, but there will hopefully be some big announcements. Every year there are videos of games that look cool but a month later get canceled. I always look foreword to announcements from the Big 3 (Sony. Microsoft, and Nintendo) because they involve price cuts, new systems, and accessories. Hit the jump for my predictions.
Microsoft
- Will not announce a portable system. – They don’t need one, the PSP failed and everyone wants an inexpensive system like the DS.
- Will announce new PC/ 360 Live features. – Probably functionality things, maybe pricing, cool features.
- Web Browser – To compete with Sony and Nintendo they will put Internet Explorer 7 on all 360’s and fans will rejoice all over the world.
- More live vision features. – In game video chat over live and more motion sensing.
- Xbox Live/ Live marketplace Price cut. – Wii online is free and so is PS3 (for now).
- Motion sensing controllers – PS3 and Wii controllers have it.
- No console price cut. – The price is fine you get your moneys worth unless you get the Ring of Death.
- Core is dead. Elite is dead. – See next prediction.
- Pro Systems will have HDMI built in. – The only reason people buy the elite is for the HDMI.
- HDMI cord for cores and pro’s. – All of the people that bought the HD-DVD attachment before the Elite was launched want HDMI and they can’t get it yet.
Nintendo
- Will not announce a DS redesign. – After only a year and its huge popularity it is too soon too put out a third DS. The DS lite is already smaller than the PSP and another redesign will not increase their lead over the PSP.
- Will not announce a Wii with DVD or attachment. – Still under a year from launch, Nintendo needs to worry about producing more Wii’s and developing improvements for it. If you want a game system that plays movies get a PS3 or 360.
- Will announce that new Wii colors without Wii sports and a price drop will be hitting North America. – It doesn’t make sense that Nintendo can’t make enough Wii’s, unless there was a manufacturing problem these things should be popping out like babies. There are only two other reasons: 1. Stockpile, 2. They are producing them in black, red, and green and after the announcement will ship out millions of Wiis. A price cut of $20.00 would bring the Wii down to $229.99 (Thank god I stayed in school). This seems reasonable since they won’t keep Wii Sports bundled with the Wii forever and Nintendo always seems to have their prices have $30.00 somewhere (Gamecube went from $129.99 – $30.00 = $99.99, DS is $129.99).
- Will feature DS/Wii Wifi functionality. – This is obvious. Now that the Wii has had time for the gamers to accept it and to learn its controls and features they will start to put out the things that could kill the competition.
Sony
- PS3 Online will not be free anymore. – Ok you have to agree XBOX live it much better than PS3 online, how is this possible… because you pay for it. When ImAlittle12YrOld69 gets banned from PS3 Online he makes a new account and pisses off everyone, when he gets banned from Xbox live his mom smacks him across the head for wasting $50.
- Bluetooth wheel. – Gran Turismo is going to be out soon so they need one. They will probably have Logitech make it.
- Rummmmmmbleeeeee! – Without rumble: Wait that was the explosion? With Rumble: Holy S**T who the f**k just blew me up?!?!
- PS3 Price cut. – Right now they are collecting dust in the warehouse at retailers around the country, with a price tag under $599.99 more people will buy it.
- PS3 Firmware – Better PSP PS3 connectivity will be added.
- PSP Redesign with flash memory. – Slimmer, brighter, better battery and built in 4gb flash memory.
- PSP Firmware with really cool features. – Better PSP PS3 connectivity will be added and anti modding features will be added.
And now all the things I want but know will never happen:
- One System to play them all.
- Game discs will be replaced by usb drives that you bring to stores and download your games to.
- Nintendo will send me a Wii for free.
- Microsoft will announce that they are hiring wizards to make my and many other 360’s stop dying.
- Modding will be accepted by the big 3.
- The GBA and Gamecube will be killed.
- From now on Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo will force the publishers to send the Ripten staff free games for life.

Terrible read. The PSP hasn’t failed in the least, sure it hasn’t sold as well as the DSL, but the Gamecube didn’t sell nearly as many as the PS2 and that’s not considered a failure.
Your predictions suck.

Not bad, the only thing i dont agree with is that the PSP is a faliure. It is when compared to the DS’s wild success, but as a handheld in a market dominated by Nintendo its doing significantly better than any other Nintendo Handheld competitors. But thats not what this article is about.
I agree with a fair amount of the predictions, some are ones i think just slightly different.

If you don’t understand what I just wrote, don’t worry because I was’t expecting you to.
Predictions are meant to be fun jackass. ESPN gives predictions before every week of football, baseball, basketball and anything else they decide to broadcast. Lighten the hell up and enjoy life before it’s too late.

These predictions are uninteresting, how about some original predictions I haven’t already read elsewhere. The internet is not my life you assclown, I use it for gaming news because it is the quickest source and this source just plain sucks, much like your ESPN reference (whose predictions I couldn’t care less for).
I think you need a larger pair of high heels, because your ape knuckles are still dragging on the ground.

Nope. It’s just that I’ve noticed that people who get picked on a lot (like you) are usually the ones that have all the good comebacks handy.
You can dislike something without having to say “this sucks” thereby trying to get the attention you obviously are lacking.

Enough of the bandwagon fanboy stuff boys. Come on. Agree or disagree the man seems to be hating on everything equally, which I can feel since the whole point of these conferences is to announce improvements.
They don’t all just get in the room, look at each other and say “we are great see you next year”
If you call the 360 Core and Elite systesm “dead” like he did you are definitely not on Bill Gates bandwagon. Keep it real boys.

The PS3 section has like 3 things duplicated and trashing the PSP as a failure with 20 mil sold is inaccurate. Besides I love the PS Network. Sure it is in it’s infancy but give it time. Pirate Gamer praises m$ about all the wrong things and misses the whole ‘red ring of death’ issue by not stating m$ might want to up the warranty to life time, allow banned 360s and offer live for free for everyone from now on as compensation for screwing any gamer buying into their shovel ware.

It would be nice if M$ did all the things you mentioned, but let’s be realistic, they’re money hogs. The best thing they could do is provide something like the elite at a discount. That would consolidate the confusing number and variety of SPU’s on the market, and give them an edge on the PS3.
Personally, I think the PS3 doesn’t need a price cut – it needs better PR. People need to understand all they’ll get with the PS3 package, not just the same games at a higher price with a prototype dvd player (BTW blu-ray is awesome!)

I i think he has a point about the psp failing, the only reason people buy it is to play emulators remember that story about a week ago about how Luminees sales increased by like 25000% in one day, do you know why??? because an exploit was found that lets you run homebrew.
