Pocket Gamers: PC Games Served Up Mobile-Style via Vollee

volllee_logo.jpgSounds a little bit like a magic trick, but soon your PC games — MMO’s included — may be available piped through your 3G able mobile device. How exactly Vollee does it is one of those mysteries of the universe, but they are licensing games to essentially port (though the process is different, faster, cheaper) and stream through their subscription service. In an interview with GameDailyBiz, Vollee CEO Martin Dunsby discusses the reasons behind this new idea:

“Mobile handsets are not PCs. This sounds obvious, but people are trying to create games on them like they’re PC games from 10 years ago. This doesn’t complement the hardware, as the capabilities are devoted towards communication functions. They try and jam everything they want into a 200k Java game. So we thought, ‘Why not take advantage of the networking capabilities?’ It’s really a different way of thinking about games, as a window into the network.”

The game catalog is under wraps until launch, but we’ll be keeping an eye on it. They’re promising a variety of action, casual, and even MMO titles. Could WoW be coming to a pocket near you?
