NASCAR 08 Tunes Into Classic Rock, Country Stations for Soundtrack

Bucky, this is your 2nd warning. Sing something other than “A Different World”.
While real race car drivers don’t have the luxury of fiddling with the radio in the middle of a race, virtual NASCAR drivers will have a decent selection of country and rock songs to speed along to. The NASCAR 08 soundtrack features classic country celebs like Brooks and Dunn along with some contemporary artists like Bucky Covington and Big and Rich. Additionally, the jazz band Airborne and hard rockers Velvet Revolver round out a unique set list.
It may not be as complete as a Tony Hawk or Guitar Hero soundtrack, but it’s nice to have some racing-themed riffs behind the revving of engines and rebel yells of spectators. Playing to the country crowd definitely shows that EA understands where the true strength of NASCAR lies– in America’s heartland. Here’s the list of tracks released so far:
- Airbourne - Stand Up For Rock ‘N Roll
- Big & Rich - Loud
- Big & Rich - Radio
- Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - Need Some Air
- Blackberry Smoke - Up In Smoke
- Brooks & Dunn - Long Haul
- Bucky Covington - Empty Handed
- Crossin Dixon - Stomp
- Halfway To Hazard - Country ‘Til The Day We Die
- Jason Aldean - Johnny Cash
- Palmerston - Addicted To This
- Velvet Revolver - She Builds Quick Machines
- More Pixies For Rock Band
- Rumor: Partial GTA IV Soundtrack Revealed
- Wii: Rock Band Release Date Announced
- Interview: Rock Band, Ton-Essa La’Rocque, MTV West Coast
- MLB 2K8: 2K Sports Announces In-Game Soundtrack & Pitchfork Media Partnership
- Xbox 360/PS3 Review: NHL 2K8
- Electronic Arts Wants to Take Even More of Your Money
- Sonic the Hedgehog now on iPod

This was an excellent preview of the music to be featured in NASCAR 08. Drewski’s personal style and attention to detail really brings the music to life. I can almost hear “Country ‘Til The Day We Die” ringing in my ears after reading such descriptive prose.
