Sony PS3 Not Selling As Well As Expected - CFO Prefers To Focus On The Positive
by Chad Lakkis on July 30, 2007 at 12:24 pm

Last Thursday Sony’s Game Division posted an operating loss of $237 million. The company’s CFO, Nobuyuki Oneda, had the following to say:
“Sales of the PS3 have risen but we booked losses due to our strategic decision to price it below the (production) cost. Actually, because the number of units sold was not as high as we hoped, the loss was better than our original expectation”.
Not since “So you’re saying I’ve got a chance” courtesy of Dumb and Dumber, have we heard such an optimistic and yet ridiculously far fetched response.
That is like saying “Sargent, we are getting our asses kicked out there, but since most of our soldiers are getting killed before they get a chance to fire off a round we are saving a ton of money on ammo!” Completely absurd.

I hope PS3 will never sell, gamers were moked by Sony, when they closed LIK-SANG by stupid laws and stupid economic interests. I have my PS2 for some years I bought original games, since lik-sang closed I’ve achieved more than 100 copies.
