Rumor: Quake Arena Heading to the DS?

A speech made by co-founder of id Software, John Carmack, during QuakeCon last night, has many sites reporting that there may be a version of Quake Arena heading to the Nintendo DS.
If the game does end up hitting the DS, John stated that he would like it to focus on the D-pad in terms of controls and not the touch screen like Metroid Prime Hunters.
This baffled us, especially after we had a chance to play Gamecock’s Dementium: The Ward at this years EiEiO conference in Santa Monica CA. The game played flawlessly using the touch screen and felt almost identical to a standard keyboard and mouse set up.
Yes we are questioning his genius, and we will continue to do so until he proves us wrong.
