“Touch me — you know you want to.”
The Associated Press is reporting that the Xbox 360 Wireless Racing Wheel, when left plugged into a power source, can overheat and release smoke. Instead of a recall, Microsoft will offer to “retrofit” to customers along with instructions. In the meantime, Microsoft advises using batteries to power the wheel instead of an outlet.
The problems have mostly been reported in Japan, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. Microsoft has said that 230,000 of the controllers have been sold to consumers.
If you have a Wireless Racing Wheel for the 360 and have noticed any sort of overheating, let us know in the comment section below, and contact Microsoft to learn more about the retrofitting process. We all love to see the console war heating up, but not at the expense of people’s property and safety.
