Stop trying to ninja loot my lightsaber!

In a press release today, LucasArts finally confirmed a long standing rumor which involved the company working side by side with Bioware to publish and develop a “ground-breaking interactive product”. Could this be the long-anticipated Star Wars MMO everyone has been hoping that Star Wars Galaxies would be? Fans of both companies will have to wait a little longer, as the press release promises more information coming at “a later date”. Read more…

As many 360 owners already know, the console does not come equipped with Wi-Fi capability out of the box. This had me fuming from day one, as it forced me to run a Cat 5 cable from my room to the router, a good 25 feet away. Read more…

Capcom Logo

Little known facts about Capcom: Their name is pronounced Kapukon in Katakana, the writing system designated for foreign words in the Japanese language. Megaman is actually referred to as “Rockman” in his native Japan. And the name Capcom is actually a partial acronym taken from the company’s original name, Japan Capsule Computers. Read more…

Our next contender came out of the tangled streets of Osaka, Japan. Osaka is loud, boisterous, exciting, and over the top. It should be no surprise then that this gaming heavyweight at one time called this city home. As anyone who has played one of their signature games can attest, Konami is not one to shy away from theatrics when getting its story across. Read more…

Fury Review (PC)

by Josh Pankratz on October 29, 2007 at 6:45 pm

fury_box_art.jpg
“Pretty sure the big flaming “F” on the box stands for failure.”

As an avid MMO player with three level 70s in World of Warcraft, I always hated the idea of grinding for experience. It seems so archaic. There is little fun to be had in killing the same thing over and over just to increase your numerical value by one digit. Fury appeals to the idea that grinding is for suckers. So when I heard that a company was claiming they had a game that would redefine PvP, I jumped at the chance to review it. Read more…

“For those about to rock……”

It’s not Warped Tour or Coachella, but this yearly concert tour is still one of the best shows in town. It’s got roaring crowds, outrageous stages, and even some special guest appearances. Best of all, they want you to play lead guitar. Read more…

Interview: Alex Ortiz, Production Coordinator for Guitar Hero 3

by Michael Geslani on October 29, 2007 at 12:14 am

gh3_interview.jpg

Guitar Hero is finally facing some tough competition this year due to Rock Band, and the behind-the-scenes maneuvering between companies is probably pretty confusing to most music game fans.

The creators of Guitar Hero may have moved on to develop Rock Band, but the GH license is still going strong with big-name contributors and more addicting guitar gameplay. We talked with Activision’s Alex Ortiz, who is Guitar Hero 3’s production coordinator, about how the legal and licensing changes have affected this popular series. Read more…

Just like its advertising campaign, EA is BIG. The company made net revenue of over 3 billion dollars in 2005 and continues to grow. The recent acquisition of BioWare will only continue to drive this monster forward. This along with its near-monopoly on professional sports games could prove to be a bottomless well for future earnings. Read more…

First Look: InstantAction.com

by Rob Way on October 26, 2007 at 9:22 pm

instant_action_site.jpg

My expectations were low when first hearing about InstantAction.com, an online browser based gaming site. Why? Because the current list of sites offering online games are full of cheap looking 3d graphics and less than impressive gameplay. So, with this in mid, I sat down with Josh Williams of GarageGames as he logged into the Alpha version of InstantAction.com. Read more…
