“I feel so much safer now!”
Nintendo announced Monday, Oct. 1 that they are offering the Wii Remote Jacket Accessory free of charge for current owners of the Wii console.
The Jacket Accessory is a cover that is placed over a portion of the Wii Remote to provide cushioning for people who may accidentally throw or drop their Wii Remotes.
“We’re always looking for ways to improve our products and make sure everyone has a safe and fun experience,” says George Harrison, Nintendo of America’s senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications. “Many electronics manufacturers provide similar protective covers for products like cell phones, PDAs and MP3 players.”
Nintendo will now be shipping all Wii remotes with the Jacket Accessory starting Tuesday, Oct. 2 but they aren’t expected to hit retail stores until Oct. 15.
Wii owners can order up to four Jacket Accessories, but expect 5-10 days to receive them. Owners should visit this website to place an order.
