MyWiiStory.com – Wii Have A Story To Tell

Since the introduction of the Nintendo Wii last year, many individuals have become attuned to the capabilities of the system, allowing Nintendo to reach a market base well beyond the typical 18-to-35-year-old male, normally the primary consumer of videogame consoles.

The Wii’s innovative use of the controller allows players to physically interact with games such as Wii Bowling or Tennis. Many say that it’s a great way to work out, especially for those who lead primarily inactive lifestyles.

Fans of the console are include an older baby-boomer demographic, most of which never played a video game before the Nintendo Wii. Just ask Sue Leon, who posted on Nintendo’s new website MyWiiStory.com.

“I’m a 46-year-old mom, never really played any video games. My kids are now 25 yrs, 22 yrs and 19 yrs old,” Leon said on the site.

The days of getting permission to invite your friends over to play a game of Halo or Madden are over as more and more mothers like Leon begin to lay claim to the family gaming room, inviting their own friends over to experience the fun that is the Nintendo Wii.

“I am having a Wii party on the 21st of this month. We sent out invitations and I have about 15 women coming to try to play Wii,” Leon said.

Nintendo’s new web site allows players to share stories about how the Wii has changed their perspective on videogames, some going as far as explaining how the console has helped them on a broader level.

“Everyone’s a gamer and every gamer has a Wii story to share,” says George Harrison, Nintendo of America’s senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications. “We want all Wii owners to go to MyWiiStory.com to further demonstrate the extent to which we have brought new players into the world of video games.”

Those interested in sharing their own stories can do so by visiting MyWiiStory.com. Creating an account allows you the ability to share your experience with other members along with pictures and videos as well.
