Super-Ego Games Announces “Rat Race” - Sitcom-y PS3 Exclusive

Super-Ego Games has announced the development of a new title called “Rat Race” on the U.S. Playstation Blog, stating that the game would be available this winter for download via the Playstation Network.
The company worked previously with Mattel and Activision to develop “Barbie Diaries”, but rest assured, as Rat Race will not involve “playing dress up” and the graphics will have a much more mature look.
Available for download in episode format, Rat Race is being described as an action-comedy set in a dysfunctional office. The game features a cast of zany and original characters, and tasks players to simply make it through the working day.
The Co-founder of Super-Ego Games, Bo Lasater, previously worked as a designer and programmer at a multi-media developer Morgan Interactive, where he was responsible for overseeing strategic initiatives regarding outsourcing as well as new art and animation techniques. He also helped find Fort Point Partners, an infrastructure management system company.
“Our goal is to give you the feeling of ‘playing’ inside an episode of your favorite TV show. Sometimes we describe “Rat Race” as an interactive sitcom, but that doesn’t do it justice. There’s more to the experience than funny dialogue. Along the way you’ll sneak, sprint, solve puzzles, eavesdrop, steal, and even ‘neutralize’ that lab monkey.” said Easley.
The second of the two Co-founders, President Greg Easley, previously founded the development studio “Bottle Rocket” whose client list included ESPN, HBO, Major League Baseball, Electronic Arts, and MTV. He eventually sold Bottle Rocket to digital television company ACTV.
As if they don’t have enough experience at the helm already, another big player is company’s CEO, Bob Welch, formerly an executive producer at Atari, with experience overseeing the production of titles such as “RollerCoaster Tycoon 3”, “Act of War”, “Sid Meier’s Pirates”, “Civilization”, “Risk”, and “Atari Anthology”. Welch also spent time at Hasbro Interactive where he had a hand in developing titles such as “Zapper”, “Axis and Allies”, “Atari PurePlay”, and “Clue”.
“We want our products to extend the reach of interactive entertainment beyond the core gamer and into the mainstream. Our goal is to create games with engaging characters and storylines that appeal to mass audiences, while taking advantage of next-gen technology. We know, and our market research has proven, that both casual game players and traditional gamers are looking for something new, accessible and enjoyable,” said Welch.
The voice and writing talent for the Super-Ego title has been credited on Late Night with Conan O’Brien, My Name Is Earl, Saturday Night Live, South Park, Flight of the Conchords, Sex and the City, Ugly Betty, Comedy Central, and others, all reinforcing the “interactive sitcom” analogy made by Easly.
