Sony Has Spoken: 40 GB Playstation 3 Coming to America November 2nd

It’s official. On November 2nd, the Playstation 3 40 GB console will be “Coming to America”, and much like Eddie Murphy in the 1988 classic comedy, it is expected to receive the royal treatment once it hits US soil.
“We’ve heard that price has been a barrier for some folks. We think at $399, this brings the PS3 into the conversation for people looking to add an HD console,” said Peter Dille, Vice President of Marketing for Sony in an interview with the San Francisco Chronicle.
Sony also confirmed that the new 40 GB version will come bundled with Spider-Man 3 on Blu-ray. If your spider sense just started tingling, there is good reason, because while the new version comes with a lower price tag and the third installment of everyones favorite wall crawling super hero, one thing that it will be lacking is backwards compatibility, meaning you will not be able to play any of your PS2 games.
If you aren’t willing to stick that in your web shooter and like it, then you can always head out and purchase the 80 GB version for $499.
