Infinity Ward Delivers — COD4 Shines On All Platforms

by Chad Lakkis on November 6, 2007 at 5:38 pm

cod4_congrats.jpg

While the PC and 360 versions of Call of Duty 4 got most of the attention durring the beta period, Playststion 3 owners can rest assured that the men and women at Infinity Ward were deep in the trenches, hard at work developing a PS3 experience that Sony fanboys would be proud to call their own.

We have been playing all three versions, and were so happy with the experience across the board that we sent Pete Blumel, Infinity Ward’s Associate Producer on Call of Duty 4 a quick note to congratulate him an his team. Being the nice guy that he is, Pete wrote us back, thanking us for the kind words and stating the following:

“We gave a lot of love to the PS3 and we hope PS3 owners really enjoy the game. Their game experience will not be lacking.”

When we first met Pete at this years E3, he assured us that they had multiple teams dedicated to each platform. The news impressed us, as most developers we came across seemed to be running away in fear of the Playststion 3. It turns out Infinity Ward’s decision to embrace Sony’s next gen gaming console has paid off. Congratulations Infinity Ward, and here’s to hoping that more developers follow in your combat boot wearing footsteps.

Be sure to check out our Call of Duty 4 “Rank up – Win Big” Contest, and check back tomorrow for our review of COD4.

With Ratchet and Super Mario Galaxy coming, I’d considered holding off on CoD4 and picking it up used. I’m so impressed with Infinity Ward’s consideration of PS3 owners, that I will buy a copy today.

Thank you Infinity Ward. I hope you’re showered with love by PS3 owners.

How is single player? I know online will be good but how did the campaign turn out?

The campaign may be short but the story is really good, and the online is awesome.

I have it on both consoles as well. They are both very close. They did a very good job on the PS3 version and I find myself playing that one the most.

Overall, an excellent game, Infinity Ward has done the impossible. They for surpassed their excellent job on COD2 (which I still play online for the PC)

I was not a huge fan of First Person Shooters, until I played COD2 for the first time. Infinity Ward is just awesome!!!!

so would you say the graphics are better for the PS3 version? I think the online should alow PS3 players to go against 360 players

    @Travis Stewart

The graphics are just about the same in my opinion. Infinity Ward did a great job on both consoles.

And yes, PS3 and 360 to duke it out. Can’t we all just get along…. and game!

just wondering because I have neither system I am leaning alot towards the 360 but people claim the PS3 has more potential in the long run.

Travis there about equal. The developers who optimize there software per platform will do amazing things.

Get the console that has the exclusive you like now and get the other later.
