Sony Customer Service Rep Claims Dust in PS3 is an Act of God

A customer was recently told by Sony that the dust in his PS3 was possibly an “act of God”. Since the launch of the PS3, we’ve heard very few reports of consumers having any sort of technical problems with their consoles, but this makes news of Ive’s plight all the more disconcerting.
The guy just wanted to get his PS3 back in action as quick as possible, but apparently his PS3 had accumulated too much dust to be valid under Sony’s warranty. When Ive asked his customer service representative what part of the warranty dust fell under, the keen representative went on to tell him, “It could either be considered customer abuse, or an act of God.”
PS3′s don’t usually break. Chalk it up to good design—maybe Kutaragi knew what he was doing after all. With so few consoles returning to Sony for service, it’s easy to see how they may have overlooked customer support. Still, should anything, even divine influence, ever affect our black, piano-finished Blue Ray Pl…err, I mean “game consoles”, we’d like to think we’d be taken care of.
