More Signs Uncharted Releases Early, Plus First Magazine Review
by Patrick Steen on November 12, 2007 at 1:23 pm

Tricklings from Gamestop have put little butterflies into the stomachs of would be treasure hunters. Drake’s Fortune is listed to release this Thursday! With other retailers following suit, hopefully Uncharted will go the way of the Lombax, and release earlier than expected. In addition to this, we also have the first magazine review from MaxiConsolas, right after a wee little click from your mousey.
So Gamestop have the Uncharted release set for the 15th November, this Thursday and now EBGame’s have followed suit, deliberately changing the release date from the original 19th (well it was originally the 20th, but those Naughty Dog’s brought it forward, but not for poor old Europe). Could we have another Ratchet on our hands, since that game was released a whole week before it was meant to.
Could this be true? We think so since the game went gold a few weeks ago and Sony seem to have gotten their printing magic working at full speed, and we’re not ones to complain. However, Sheila Bryson, a PR manager with Sony Computer Entertainment working on the Naughty Dog title, said the release change was news to her. But what does she know right?
Along with this pukka news is the first magazine review. The review is from the Portuguese magazine MaxiConsolas…yes a non-English magazine, but you take what you’re given.

Don’t be fooled by the blurry photo that we’ve got — is that score an 8? No it is not. The score is actually a 9/10.
And here’s the breakdown:
Graphics: 9.5, Gameplay: 9.0, Sound: 9.0, Longevity: 7.5
Overall: 9.0
With comments ranging from “We even dare to say it looks better then Heavenly Sword”, to “The treasure that so many PS3 owners were looking for” and even “Best PS3 exclusive yet!” Make sure to head back to us for our review of the game, to find out if we agree. Plus, we’d still love to hear about your thoughts from playing the demo.
Update: 1:19PM EST, 11/11
Those dirty muppets at Gamestop and EBGames have changed Uncharted’s release date back to the 19th, so really who knows! It’s possible that Sony rang them up and told them not to release their copies until the 19th, even though they have them ready for the 15th.

I actually have quite a bit of patience, though if it comes out the 19th it will be overlooked on my priority list by Mass Effect. But Lord knows the PS3 needs some more good exclusives like Ratchet.

longevity-7.5 wow, the power of blu ray is awsome! A 5 hour tomb raider rip off!
/sarcasm.

Wow I played the Demo; and while the opening looked great but the play itself is very stiff and very linear!
My score would be at most 6/10

I don’t understand when people rate games based on the demo… I’ve played some demos that don’t even resemble the quality of the final game, which is really bad since they should put out their best stuff.

Honestly you fail to grasp that longevity doest explicitly mean “Length” of the game, but rather the replayability credit.
Since it doesn’t have any form of multiplayer (duh!) the longevity of the game is not exactly great.
However, every game has flaw/s and hence most reviews tend to look at what the game focusses most and if it succeeds in doing so or not.
In the case of Uncharted, it has been a successful endeavour in the gaming world.

I will tackle the longevity in the review and will make sure I can see justify you spending $60 or £40 on the game.
I’m sure it will come up trumps with a campaign of about 12hours, four difficulty levels, 60 treasures to find, 1000achievment points, new skins, new rendering modes and plenty of cheats that change the way you play the game. I’m sure that for a singleplayer game it will have plenty of replay value. But we’ll see in my review.

Judging on the DEMO, I have to give a 9/10. And ‘Dave Chizzum’ how can u give a six?? What game would u give a 9?? Viva Pinata?? The game is tops, and YES definetly MUCH better than Heavenly Sword, graphically and gameplay aswell. Top marks for a top DEMO.
