I don’t think this really means a whole lot, it’s obvious that world-wide there is a huge Wii shortage. I bet that if there were enough Wiis to meet demand you wouldn’t see the PS3 outselling it.

The PS3 is a superior system to the Wii. It was just way overpriced for the market. If Sony had released the PS3 at this current price it would be on top now.

There is no shortage of Wii in Japan. You can get Wii in all major shops in Japan.

Matlock:
Isn’t playing “what if” fun?
If Sony had released PS3 at the current price… Well what if Nintendo har release Wii at the current price AND with proper HD support and the same power as the 360 or PS3!
What if, if only…

Correction: “had released Wii”
Doh :)

PS3 only outsells Wii as the people of Japan have already bought Wii’s last year. Now they buy Wii’s for other things, and focus on PS3.
In fact, if you count every week since the next gen releases, Wii has outsold 360 and PS3.

Back to normal, 1st week of December
Wii – 115,057
PlayStation 3 – 38,123
Looks like PS1to3 is a more fitting name in Japan.

Great to see PS3 sales picking up. It'll be interesting to see these numbers when Final Fantasy XII hits.
