Soldier of Fortune: Payback Unbanned in Australia

I said, put another shrimp on the barbie, NOW!!!

Soldier of Fortune: Payback, the latest in a series famed and feared for its vicious dismemberment, has been toned down for its Australian release and will be subsequently un-banned.

MyGen.com.au reported:

“If you’re wondering what’s missing from the Australian release of Soldier of Fortune: Payback, I have spoken to Activision and I can confirm that dismemberment will skip this release along with scaled down blood effects and rag doll physics”

I can still remember playing the first Soldier of Fortune demo. I was carrying around a shotgun when all of a sudden a bad guy leaped out at me from behind a corner. Instinctively, I fired at his head, leaving a gushing stump. I subsequently freaked out.

This landmark in virtual violence is as powerful for me as the first time I saw Sub Zero’s fatality in the original Mortal Kombat. Now Australian teenagers of the next generation can be freaked out by SoF Payback, albeit without a lot of what made the original so shocking.

Check back soon for a review of the super-bloody American version of Soldier of Fortune: Payback.

Sorry to be the bringer of bad news but, in the australian release, there is NO blood at all, the guns act more like magic wans because the terrorists just drop dead without ANY visible damage, it is complete bullshit that this happened, what kind of idiot would get the third episode of a great series CUT?! bloody hell, i am ver disappointed, and this Southern Australian Governer General guy who is responsible for the games al most ban and blood cut sounds like an over protective father, molly coddling Australia.
