by Chad Lakkis on November 24, 2007 at 2:12 pm

It appears that frustrated Playstation 3 virtual assassin’s will be getting a fix to the freezing issues that have plagued the PS3 release of Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed in the very near future.
A post by “UbiRazz”, the UK Community Manager on the official Ubisoft Forum, states the following:
“Following our recent statement regarding the freeze issues that some consumers are facing with Assassin’s Creed on PlayStation 3, we can confirm that we are actively working on a game update. This update will help improve the stability of the game and will be released as soon as possible. In the meantime thank you for your ongoing feedback and patience.”
We will monitor this topic closely in the coming weeks, so check back often.

Pardon my ignorance, I just bought a PS3 - mainly for Assassin’s Creed - but how do updates/patches work? Are they downloaded/applied automatically or do I have to search them out via the PS download area?

Buy it for the 360. The 360 is cheaper, has more (and in my opinion far better games) and the Assassin’s Creed for it has no bugs. I’ve been playing it and adore it.

Congrats on the PS3. I’m glad they’re finally admitting and working on a patch for the ps3 version - I’ve been playing and had some awkward freezes. All in all though, I think the game looks great on the PS3 and play really well; I hope you enjoy it.

unfortunatly for the 360 the effects of assassins creed are much worse then ps3. the 360 version tends to mess up saves and cause the 360 to totally freeze up. The ps3 ver you can still use the PS button to go out of game and back in with no loss in data

Don’t mind doug. My 360 hasn’t frozen with Creed in it and i have left the game running all night long and woke up and played it. Doug bashing the 360 is nothing more then Blantant fanboy remarks.

I haven’t got a 360 or PS3 (or any other console) so I’m not biased in any way, but I have heard 2 of my friends with 360’s saying they are having issues with the game. So please don’t disregard Dougs comments.

I have not had a single issue playing it on the 360.. I’m sure there are some, but nothing like the PS3 version. The PS3 is hard to develop for, so it makes sense.

“The PS3 is hard to develop for, so it makes sense.”
How many games for the PS3 have you devolped?
Ratchet and Clank,
No problems.
Uncharted, no problems
Haze, no problems.
When developers are given support, no problems.
Red Ring of Death - Still a huge problem with the 360.
Paying extra for HD-DVD, big problem.
Paying extra for a bigger hard drive for your 360, bigger $$$$ waste of $$$$
60GB PS3 owner, never have had any problems with any games.

Well you call me a liar thats fine.. my co worker is now having to send her 360 back to microsoft due to the issue that was caused from assassins creed. And personally i have nothing against the 360 its a fine system for its time. But as was said before me paying the extra money to do what a ps3 does out of the box i find is a waste of money.

I have Creed on PS3. Of course with freezing problems and the fault is not PS3 it’s ubisoft. The game is great but they screwed it up releasing it with this kind of error for both consoles. And i think it’s stupid to excuse the bug saying that PS3 is more dificult to program. They should’ve tested the game before releasing it… so it’s Ubisoft who su-cks! Oh and Doug the ps3 ver freezes and the PS button doesn’t work too… I had to force shutdown manually 2 times now…

Please lets not get into a fanboy arguement on this. Both PS3 and 360 have issues, I’ve got a 360 and there are big issues for a lot (but not all users) with the 360 getting disc read errors for the same memory blocks in the game (memory blocks 3 and 4), hopefully Ubisoft will patch this very soon too. And before some smartarse says “clean the disc” its an issue with the actual disc pressing.

I agree with SimonDawson people shouldn’t argue about the 360 and PS3. I have a PS3, but I have nothing against the 360. There both great. Mine also had a problem with freezing. When I start my game the next time, the patch should fix it up. Hope the 360 will get a patch too, don’t worry it most likely will. Do you think Altair will be in the next version of AC? Hope so. Again both versions are great.

I am not biased to either, though I bought a ps3 for the hubby. trying to figure out if our glitch is our ps3 - the colors / graphics flicker all over the place w/ creed and could’nt run madden 08 at all. ran oblivion for 60 hours and it just stopped working looks like it went to all atari graphics - sqares that are red blues and green. Anyone see any of this before?

one more thing - we can run all ps2 games and they are just fine- no glitches at all. i think we are having issues with our video output automatically going to 480i . we are not capable of the 1080p we are set up for 1080i but not 720p either. no matter where we set it to it does that flashing of colors in the graphics….

mmm i had never experienced a single bug with the 360 version and ive finished the game with all templars killed and some flags missing so i can say that doug is just a fanboy of play station 3 cause even in game websites ive never seen reports of failures with other 360 version but with the ps3 well tha freezing problem is well known by now anyway they are going to patch it soon hope it gets fixed

the game assassins creed is a fun game also the graphics are amazing. You can do anything in the game eg kill people, jack knifes even jump of clifs. The downfall of the game is that it take a long time to load and it does freeze.

The Assassin’s creed patch has been out for a while on the PS3 and its easy to patch it.
You only have to insert the game and it will start then it says do you want to update assassin’s creed, choose YES then it will download it. It’s 25 MBs. Now there is no ‘freezing’ and works fine.

Ive only ever had one problem on assassins creed on PS3, and it was that thing where he just freezes, but you can still move the camera around. Even then it sorted itself after about 4 seconds, he fell to the floor and I carried on playing, Im sure the bugs are just as bad on both consoles to be honest though…
