PS3 Games Not as Profitable for EA as Mobile Titles

EA’s latest financial report makes embarrassing reading for Sony’s Playstation3, as its profits for EA trail behind those made by EA’s mobile phone games.
Undeniably there are some quality mobile-based games out there, but it’s surprising to see EA make only $17 million from PS3’s and $21 million from PSP’s, compared to $37 million from their mobile games division. This victory is likely due to the much larger mobile audience.
Other consoles had no such trouble, however, with the 360 making EA $218 million, the PS2 coming in second with $73 million, the Wii placing third with $59 million, and the DS finishing fourth with $47 million.
Overall, EA pulled in $640 million in profit.

if EA continues to port great 360 games into bad ps3 games, nobody will want a ps3

That’s a very good point. Alot of PS3 ports are shoddy work indeed.

Yep, good point.. instead of porting the games, which is kind of showing that you are lazy enough not to code for the PS3, do a normal coding as it is done for the xbox360 and then see the results…
