Get Your Nintendo Wiis at Costco

Did you ask for a Nintendo Wii for the holidays, only to get left out in the cold by your family and friends? Costco has got your back, maybe!
A reader of Kotaku reported earlier today that his Costco had plenty of $344.99 Wii Bundles on sale. This bundle included an extra remote and nunchuk attachment, as well as a copy of Brain Age. I called my local Costco (and by local I mean 90 minutes away) in Santa Rosa, California, and not only were they sold out, but they didn’t even have any on order. Still, if you’re looking for a Wii, your local Costco’s as good a bet as any.
While I hate bundles with a fiery passion, this isn’t a terrible deal. Anyone picking up the console will definitely want another controller at some point, and Brain Age is nothing to shake a stick at.

I own a videogame store in Mississauga, Ontario and I have to tell you, bundles are the only way stores make ANY money whatsoever on these machines. If you want to blame anyone, blame Nintendo. In Canada, we pay $264.50 for a Wii, just to sell it for $269.99. If the customer pays with a credit card, we lose over $6.
Now, as a business, does it make sense to even bother selling that product? Especially since NO ONE buys games for the Wii. They just buy the system, their kids play with it for 2 or 3 days, then it goes in the closet and never gets seen again.
