Child’s Play Raises Over One Million Dollars
by Dylan Duarte on December 31, 2007

I don’t know about you, but I was growing pretty damn sick of hearing about all the horrible shit people have been doing lately that has been attributed to videogames. That’s why it’s such a relief to hear that Penny Arcade’s Child’s Play Charity raised over one million dollars this holiday season.
Mike Krahulik and Jerry Holkins of Penny Arcade fame founded Child’s Play in 2003 with the goal of giving videogames and toys to children’s hospitals across the world. They currently have 50 hospitals in their network and that number keeps growing.
On breaking their one million dollar mark, the site reads:
“Not only did we break the million dollar mark, but we decimated it with our new total of $1,135,000! This significant achievement made this holiday season a happier, brighter one in our fifty partner hospitals. To everyone who has contributed to this amazing milestone, thank you!”
We’re promised a final update in January. To date, Child’s Play has raised $3,324,000. Doesn’t it make you feel all warm and fuzzy?

It’s nice that people are being helped but, as far as convincing people that gamers are nice people it almost seems pointless. The kind of idiot who believes that videogames make people kill probably won’t be swayed when they hear about this.
