Rock Band DLC – A Matter of Life and Death

iron_maiden.jpg

If Rock Band DLC keeps pouring in every week, it’s only a matter of time before your favorite band makes it in (if they haven’t already). Harmonix mixed it up a little this week with some Iron Maiden, Stone Temple Pilots, and the Hives. Details after the break.

Hearing our bemoaning of the cover tracks last week, Harmonix did things right this week by only making a third (yay for math!) of the songs “as made famous by” editions.

The only cover version of a song is Iron Maiden’s Number of the Beast, and once you’ve rocked your way through that, you can enjoy the sweet sounds of original master tracks of the Hives’ Die, All Right! and Stone Temple Pilots’ Interstate Love Song.

Also keeping with the trend of last week, each of the songs will cost a hard earned 160 MSP ($1.99). Even though it’s still $2 a pop, at least it’ll be easily accessible on PSN/XBLM as opposed to a magazine.

I don’t know why people are so upset about cover tracks. None of the covers in Rock Band are horrible, to my knowledge, and if it lets a song get in there that wouldn’t otherwise, why complain? Besides, it’s supposed to by the player and their band playing anyway, so who cares if it sounds different than the originals? Most of the time when I’m playing you can’t hear the damn song anyway because the drums and singer are too loud.
