Soul Wars Anyone? Soul Calibur IV To Include Star Wars Characters
by Roly Reyes on January 9, 2008 at 8:38 pm

hmm, surprised to see me you are…
Categorize this under ‘straight out of left field.’ Earlier today, 1UP’s James Mielke posted a news story revealing that Namco Bandai somehow acquired rights to Star Wars characters, specifically the Sith to rule all Siths, Darth Vader (only available on the PS3), and the tiny but mighty Yoda (only available on the 360).
Seriously, what the hell? I don’t really wanna fight Darth Vader as Ivy, and I don’t wanna fight Kilik as Yoda. What’s next — Chewy?! I guess I’m just hating for no reason, because I was pretty okay with fighting as Link on Soul Calibur III. I should be happy about awesome bonus characters, but I can’t articulate all the feelings that I’m feeling really well right now.
If you need me, I’m gonna go wallow in a corner as I figure out what my life will be like when this game gets released.

Strange that they are console exclusive. Are they trying to get people to buy both?

Probably. They did the same thing with SCIII. I think link was on the ‘cube, Spawn on the PS2, and Master Chief on the Xbox? I could be wrong, but it was something like that. I didn’t like it then and I don’t think I like it now.

nah it was spawn on the xbox and heihachi (spelt so wrong) on the ps2
quite cool theyve made it console exclusive though, it personifies the console rivalry at the moment…Vader (ps3) vs. Yoda (360)

Spawn was in the Xbox version, actually. Heihachi (of Tekken fame) was in the PS2 version.

I laugh at people saying Darth Vadar being on PS3 means it’s the dark side! HA. I think it’s more aesthetic - shiny black compared to green and white. I also suspect they’ll be available as DLC.

Yes, and that DLC will probably cost you five bucks. Otherwise, they would just put it in the game from the beginning and obviously not charge extra for it. These companies and their money-scamming practices (I’m looking at you, EA) are despicable.
They could, however, offer it as a free download and call it “fan service”. That too is pretty shady considering they know damn well we want it, so why not throw it in from the beginning?
I don’t like these psychological head-games…
