One Console For All – You and What Army?

It looks like Dennis Dyack is getting some back up on the whole “one-console future” pipe dream. David Jaffe, creator of the God of War, Calling All Cars, and Twisted Metal posted a blog stating that he’s in favor of the one console future that Dennis claims is inevitable.

Jaffe goes on to bring up VHS, DVD, and TV’s as examples from other industries and asks the question “So what do we lose by having it for game consoles?”

I’m not sure. I’m still (and probably always will be) indifferent towards a single, unified console within the next generation of consoles or even the generation after that. I say indifference because there are amazing benefits from both sides and seemingly horrible detriments to both, as well.

Although, I do feel that at the end of this current generation only two platform-holders will remain. I believe that one of them will be Microsoft, because an endless pool of money helps a lot.

Chip in, community! I’m interested in how many other people want a single, unified hardware architecture. Let us know what you think in the comment section below.
