The Golden Eye Has Closed?
by Roly Reyes on January 12, 2008

If you recall, we reported on a rumor that a number of Rare’s classics were on their way to XBLA. We were kinda right. Okay, so maybe we missed on Perfect Dark and Banjo. But we were right about Goldeneye, not that it makes any difference — Rare canned it.
According to 1UP’s Patrick Klepek, it was in a near-done state and only two months from completion. The alleged reason for the canning of the game is that Microsoft and Nintendo couldn’t meet eye-to-eye when it came to the money.
Near the end of the article there’s a little tidbit where Klepek states “From what we’re told, the best way to get this port back on track is to show Microsoft and Nintendo how badly you want it. If it all comes down to money, show ‘em that you want to give yours.”
So it would seem that there’s still a slight chance, but I wouldn’t hold my breath for too long; it’s all about the Benjamin’s, remember? Here’s to a fool’s hope.

It’s unsettling to say the least.

Thanks Patrick. Glad you guys got (and read) the memo about negative comments.
