Can’t Find a Nintendo Wii? Get Your School to Buy One, or Seven

by Wade Larson on January 13, 2008 at 4:04 pm

“You can play with my balls or my Wii. Your choice.”

The Nintendo Wii continues to expand its audience. First it was gamers, then senior citizens, and now gym teachers are making them available in gym class.

That’s right. The worst part of many a nerd’s school day has embraced the active nature of Wii Sports. Physical education teacher Don Prorok said he proposed buying seven systems and 28 controllers for his gym class after playing his brother’s Wii and realizing the potential it has to get kids moving.

“I was playing in the garage and I was tired and sore all over,” Prorok said.

Prorok said the program has been a hit with the kids and teachers alike. Chalk up another victory for Nintendo.

“They’re going to play video games anyway, we might as well steer them to the right ones,” Prorok said.

My only question is: where did they find seven Wiis?

I would be too tempted to steal it and take it home. There goes my dream of Harvard…

I have played the wii a lot and i did not get sore and i am lazy. If a gym teacher got sore from playing the wii then he does not need to be a gym teacher.

It might be useful for exercise if the wiimotes and nunchucks weight 20 pounds each.

Not all the time. None gamers will exert more energy when playing the wii because they are just not as good at getting the game to do what they want. however a gamer would likely find the most effective movements and win using the least effort.

the gym teacher was sore after playing with a wii? If the gym teacher is that out of shape, how can he teach anyone how to be in shape? Isn’t he like the morbidly obese person telling people how to lose weight?

I think this is pretty cool regardless of how in-shape the gym teacher is. These kids get Wii at school! Is that not pretty awesome?

Our gym teacher is attempting to get us a bunch of DDR pads for class. Now that is a game that can put you into shape…

Yeah, this wouold’ve been awesome ^^ especially as a whiteboard thingie.. Though a really funny thing i’ve noticed.. This might be counted as immature but.. it’s still kind’a humorous ^^ You can play with my balls or my Wii. Your choice. I mean if you like say the word Wii it becomes Wee wich would eventually make you think abit different.. so you can either play with his balls(wich could also be taken abit wrong) or with his Wee(Wii) =/ nah just joking ^^ everyone need a little humor right? i Mean ofc i love the Wii.. ima buy one myself soon^^ Wii is like the first console that passed the stupid “push a button to punch and kick” its so much more.. and with jackie lee’s(i think that was his name) invention with the Wii head tracking n stuff. It could be more awesome ^^

It’s cool. I wasn’t enraged, I was just giving you a hard time because I thought the joke was obvious. Maybe that’s just because of my sense of humor – being an immature pervert.
