I didn't say you needed two copies to play mods on the ps3, read what I said, two copies, two platforms to "create" & "share" content. Also unless I'm mistaken you need a memory card to transfer the mods to the ps3 itself.

My stance is that user created content should be creatable and sharable over the ps3. Epics unreal mods for ps3 is hardly intuitive or possessed of any ease of use and virtually useless for allowing ps3 owners to create mods for there own system without a significant investment in both software and hardware.

You don't need two copies of the game to PLAY mods on the PS3, just the PS3 version.

Little Big Planet will fully realize the potential in user generated/ user shared content on the PS3... this is a great first step.

Count me in!

Hey Patrick

I agree that this is revolutionary step up for console gamers and I hope that trends like this continue to open up games to community creativity.

Though I'd like to point out that this is not the first console game to allow this kind of expansive creativity, farcry, pariah, and timesplitters: future perfect have all dabbled with this kind of user created content that is sharable over the console.

Halo maps and even doom and myriad of other fps games have had levels recreated and shared through these games. With surprising quality, many of the maps are quite ingenious even with the often limited map editors of these games.

The point is that while its a great feature in unreal 3, it requires two platforms and I presume two copies of the same game to enable the user to create and share maps. I view this as a step back for console games and user generated content in terms of actually allowing console gamers to create and share content. Theres no reason that console games can not have map editors built in since it has already been done and the ps3 would be I think the most open to this since it will function with keyboard and mouse.

For console gamers I think what crytec did with the farcry map editor and subsequent follow up in the crysis map eidtor is more console friendly then epic's multi platform only editor and I think the gaming community needs to push for more farcry like map editors for consoles games, otherwise, I feel user generated content will be limited by a much smaller base capable of taking advantage of such a feature.
