Ninja Gaiden II Probably NOT Coming to PS3… Or Is It?
by Dan Landis on January 22, 2008 at 5:27 am

I’m sure this is not what you were hoping for.
According to the February issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly, it’s a definite “maybe”. Of course that could just be a typo.
Towards the end of EGM’s Game Over section, they always give a little sneak peek at the next month’s issue. This time, they happen to have Ninja Gaiden II listed in the previews section, but they have it listed for both the 360 and the PS3.
Now, I’m not one to start rumors, so let me just tell you now that I find this extremely hard to believe. I’ve been a reader of EGM for over 15 years, and I’ve seen mistakes like this before. Yes, I’m saying it’s a mistake — a typographical error.

Image courtesy of myself because it’s my magazine and I paid for it. The content, of course, is the property of EGM and Ziff Davis Media.
While it’s entirely possible that EGM knows something we don’t and inadvertently let the ninja out of the bag, I dismiss this idea for one main reason: Microsoft is publishing the game. Unless Tecmo and Team Ninja decided to let Sony or someone else (maybe themselves) publish Ninja Gaiden II for the PS3, I doubt the game is coming to the PS3 by way of Microsoft.
Then again, maybe EGM does know something, but they aren’t allowed to say, in which case they “accidentally” listed the game for both consoles. Again, I find this very hard to believe. They would all be killed!
EGM’s final page is all about the PS3 and how it’s going to have a big year. If EGM really did know that Ninja Gaiden II was coming to the PS3, I don’t think they would have excluded it from the conversation. You know, that would actually be some news worth talking about, wouldn’t it?
Unless you think this is how Ninja Gaiden II for PS3 would be announced, and it’s not just a three-letter mistake in the back of a magazine, I would just put this one in the “wishful thinking” department. Although the shockwaves could be significant, consider this just a simple error on EGM’s part. Great job, guys!

I dont see this happening. As much as I back the PS3. NG2 is exclusive to the 360. I just find it very hard to believe. Like I said on another site. It is a 99.9% chance of this being a typo.

How does anyone know that this won’t be a timed exclusive? It could be that. Did anyone call Tecmo? Why not? It would seem to be the easiest thing to do.

I got a ps3 and i would love to play it day and date with the xbox360 release.but then again a typo might be there cuz i am not sure about that but the also wrote (ps3/xb360)see anything odd……they arote xb360 not xbox360.so its definatly a typo…but any way people like me will definatly have a wet dream about playing ng2 on there ps3s.i can only wish.

It’s a typo. EGM’s said so.

So…Sigma is the ONLY game to be released on the PS3?
That really sucks…really it does.

I don’t know…if they brought the first Ninja Gaiden to PS3, I wouldn’t be suprised if they eventually brought NG2 also. It just might not come out for another year or 2…
Of course, I also wouldn’t be suprised if it doesn’t… :(

As it looks like, NG2 is going to be an amazing game and the truth? I even considered to buy an Xbox just for this game but I have decided to leave it and here’s the reason:
When Sony comes out with an exclusive game for PS3, this is something else, Sony develops games on their own studios, for the obvious reasons they won’t develop games on a platform that competes with their console,
But M$ just buying publishing rights to make games such as NG2 exclusive for Xbox,
If more and more people will fall into this marketing strategic then big corporations like M$ will win, this is the only reason I’m not buying Xbox as well.
Games should be produced for all consoles available, why not? freedom, decide yourself what console you would like to have.
This was M$ strategic in all fields, “if you can’t beat them buy them”
Just my 2 cents,
Asaf.

Asaf, that’s how ALL big companies work, INCLUDING $ony. $ony is as equally guilty as Microsoft. They paid Konami a huge fat wad of cash to keep MGS4 exclusive. And since when has $ony been developing video games? They rely on other companies to do this. Sure, they’ve got first party games, but those games are developed by their respective companies (who get paid a lot of money, I might add).
But hey, when Microsoft does it, it’s wrong and evil, but when $ony does it, it’s okay, right? It’s as if people believe $ony isn’t a big corporation.
And I put the dollar signs in every instance of “Sony” because the whole “M$” thing gets annoying after a while, so I thought I’d balance things out.

Avalon: “And since when has $ony been developing video games” “Sure, they’ve got first party games, but those games are developed by their respective companies”:
To a certain extent, but what about Sony Santa Monica (God of War), SCE Japan (Siren), SCE London (Singstar, Home), SCE Liverpool (F1 Series, Wipeout) and many other Sony studios.
Sony were the company to self develop and publish the most games, this generation the crown has moved over to Nintendo.

Avalon, Sony did not pay Kojima to keep MGS4 on the PS3. It was a matter of preference. Unless you enjoy swapping 12 discs or more on the 360. There was no way that MGS4 could have fit on the 360. In order for Konami to port the game, they would have too much trouble on their hands.
Think before you speak.

While it doesn’t matter to me if ninja 2 comes out for ps3 or not, cause i have both :), I think it is a really bad business move to bring a sequel for a huge hit game like that out on a different system. Owners of ps3 will want the continued story and 360 owners will want the previous story. The whole thing seems really messy.
