Tecmo’s Fatal Frame 4 Published by Nintendo: “Wii-sclusive”
by Patrick Steen on January 30, 2008 at 7:44 am
Tecmo announced last year that the next Fatal Frame would be coming to the Wii. No other console version was mentioned, even though the series had previously appeared on the Playstation 2 and Xbox.
Many hoped that Fatal Frame 4 would make its way to one of these systems as well. These hopes have now been dashed.
At a Tecmo Press event Nintendo has been revealed as Fatal Frame 4’s publisher. Tecmo and No More Heroes developer Grasshopper Manufacture will be working together to create the game exclusively for the Wii.
Quality third party titles are coming Nintendo’s way, with strong Wii sales tempting talented developers. The Wii-sclusive is planned for this Summer.

My girl turned me on to this game when she asked me to try and find the release date for Fatal Frame 4. After telling me how much she enjoyed playing Fatal Frame 3 and getting me very excited to enjoy the new release with her, we were completely dismayed to learn of it’s exclusive release on the Nintendo Wii console. I have played the Wii many times, and can say with a long time gamer’s voice that any first person shooter on this console will prove to be difficult to control and uninspired. Where’s the strafing? Where’s the quick aim? Where’s the graphics? Where’s the true multiplayer (read: not split screen) capabilities? It’s appalling that amazing titles like this are being wasted on consoles in the first place — which amount to nothing more than underpowered, lower-capability computers sold at a premium. It’s even worse when the console of choice is that which lacks the range of controls and overall fun-factor of it’s competitors. Shame on you, Tecmo.

i love fatal frame series and i think it whould be great on the wii , and it whould also be great if the made a camera obscure controler so it whould be like real life.

To Justin and Serena C’s comment regarding FPS controls on the Wii. It seems you’ve overlooked Metroid Corruption, an inspired control scheme that made FPS controls intuitive, fun, and yes accounted for strafing.

I will never understand why Tecmo has released the game on a WII. Fatal Frame has been a Playstation and X-box game ever since the first game was released.. And I have read many threads online about the next game being released on the PS3.. So now they have suddenly changed their minds and released it on a system that had nothing to do with Fatal Frame in the first place, so big FF fans like me has to go out and spend a lot of money on a console that I really really dont want, just because they arent realesing it on the Playstation.
Im sorry guys, but I think Tecmo has made a stupid move here..

Justin and Serena C – “Where’s the strafing? Where’s the quick aim? Where’s the graphics?”
1. Fatal Frame isn’t and never has been a FPS, you use a camera not a gun.
2. Wiimote aiming is much faster than analogue.
3. Fatal Frame has previously been on PS2 and Xbox, in which case you must have hated them as they didn’t have HD graphics either.
