New Indie MMO Game, SAGA, Now Playable
by Dan Landis on February 29, 2008

Indie developer Silverlode Interactive accosted me outside the press room at GDC to show me their new MMORTS (Massively Multiplayer Online Real-Time Strategy) game, SAGA. The game looks interesting enough, and given the fact that it’s essentially free, it very well may be worth your time. I checked out the beta yesterday, and I have to say that I have no idea what I’m doing. There seemed to be plenty of people who did, however, so maybe I just missed something.
Either way, SAGA has just entered open beta for the public, so you can give the game a shot for yourself. Full press release after you click the link at the end of this sentence… wait for it… okay, now! Read more…

Sony may be accused of a lot of things, but one thing they can not be accused of is being inconsistent. Gamecock’s “Sabotage” Videogame Renamed “Velvet Assassin”
by Chad Lakkis on February 29, 2008

We just received word that Publisher Gamecock and Hamburg Germany Developer Replay Studios have changed the name of the stealth-action game we first experienced at last years EiEiO Conference in Los Angeles CA titled “Sabotage” to “Velvet Assassin”.
“Rather than a trite, overused, and generic working title like ‘Sabotage,’ ‘Velvet Assassin’ captures the heart of what we’re trying to accomplish,” said Sascha Jungnickel, Creative Director at Replay Studios.
Being that the main character is an attractive dark haired woman by the name of Violette Szabo who boasts a mean killing streak, the new title resonates well with us. Full press release after the jump. Read more…

Preview: Condemned 2: Bloodshot
by Adam Montgomery on February 29, 2008

Sega’s invite to play games and eat cakes was too tempting, so Ripten arrived with pockets deep enough to hold a week’s supply of food, and pilfered enough grub to fill them. As well as the iced-goodness, Sega were keen to ram Condemned 2 down our throats. Fortunately, Monolith’s bloody, brutal horror also left a rather sweet taste in our mouths. Read more…
