New Indie MMO Game, SAGA, Now Playable

by Dan Landis on February 29, 2008

saga-header-mmo-indi.jpg

Indie developer Silverlode Interactive accosted me outside the press room at GDC to show me their new MMORTS (Massively Multiplayer Online Real-Time Strategy) game, SAGA. The game looks interesting enough, and given the fact that it’s essentially free, it very well may be worth your time. I checked out the beta yesterday, and I have to say that I have no idea what I’m doing. There seemed to be plenty of people who did, however, so maybe I just missed something.

Either way, SAGA has just entered open beta for the public, so you can give the game a shot for yourself. Full press release after you click the link at the end of this sentence… wait for it… okay, now! Read more…

Chains of Olympus Manual Teases God of War III

by Roly Reyes on February 29, 2008

god-war-3-manual.jpg

Sony may be accused of a lot of things, but one thing they can not be accused of is being inconsistent. Just as God of War: Chains of Olympus was teased on the back of God of War II’s manual; Sony is perpetuating this trend by doing the same thing with God of War III. The logo is followed by the words “coming soon”. Read more…

velvet-assassin-header.jpg

We just received word that Publisher Gamecock and Hamburg Germany Developer Replay Studios have changed the name of the stealth-action game we first experienced at last years EiEiO Conference in Los Angeles CA titled “Sabotage” to “Velvet Assassin”.

“Rather than a trite, overused, and generic working title like ‘Sabotage,’ ‘Velvet Assassin’ captures the heart of what we’re trying to accomplish,” said Sascha Jungnickel, Creative Director at Replay Studios.

Being that the main character is an attractive dark haired woman by the name of Violette Szabo who boasts a mean killing streak, the new title resonates well with us. Full press release after the jump. Read more…

Preview: Condemned 2: Bloodshot

by Adam Montgomery on February 29, 2008

condemed2-screen2.jpg

Sega’s invite to play games and eat cakes was too tempting, so Ripten arrived with pockets deep enough to hold a week’s supply of food, and pilfered enough grub to fill them. As well as the iced-goodness, Sega were keen to ram Condemned 2 down our throats. Fortunately, Monolith’s bloody, brutal horror also left a rather sweet taste in our mouths. Read more…

by Chad Lakkis on February 29, 2008

ea-gta-v-exclusive.jpg

Many of us have been holding our breath since EA made its initial offer to buy Take-Two, and the company’s comment, stating that they would wait until the release of Grand Theft Auto IV before discussing the offer any further, did very little to ease that sick feeling in our stomachs.

EA, who has been known to tone down the violent content of their games and splurge on in game advertising (as shown above), is set to destroy our beloved Grand Theft Auto franchise. The top secret tech demo showcasing EA’s take on the series is not for the faint of heart. Read more…

  • Wade Larson: Wow. A BILLION DOLLAR LOAN? How does that even work? Hm. Well, I guess I’m not too surprised that...
  • LC: I have to disagree, they are loud at no point when playing games do I not hear the fans. Jet engine is obviously...
  • DavidGX: It’s a Falcon Elite.. other than that, I couldn’t say. Not nearly as quiet as the Wii, but...
  • LC: did yours comes special with magic or did you add that yourself? lol
  • DavidGX: It does.
  • Meresin: The videos we’ve seen to date have been promising. I just hope they make the game run a bit more...
  • LC: so your xbox 360 doesn’t have fans?
  • madpuppy: Frankly, for Valve I think that the PC is their main money maker, with the excellent content distribution...
  • madpuppy: too..much..Jack..Bla ck, he is like the new Robin Williams, only not as funny or as good an actor.
