If Your Grandma Had Game, She Would Knit Like This

by Andrew Podolsky on February 3, 2008 at 5:50 pm

knittingexamplesgaming-2.jpg

We all know that videogames are good for your fine motor skills, inspire creativity, etc, so check out these photos of great knit game projects courtesy of the talented crafters on Flickr.

1. Above: Atari + Pitfall

Notice the little Pitfall Harry on the screen.

2. Magnetic Katamari Ball

knittingpicturesasd-1.jpg

Add magnets and you can actually roll up metal objects. Slug tokens not included.

3. Katamari Hat

knittingpicturesasd-2.jpg

Now you can tell people, “that’s how I roll!”

4. Mario Pillow

knittingexamplesgaming-6.jpg

This pillow actually comes from Princess Peach’s bedroom.

5. Pac Man hat

knittingexamplesgaming-7.jpg

I’ve got a fever, and the only cure is more pellets.6. Knit LocoRoco

knittingexamplesgaming-4.jpg

So cute, and looks simple enough to do.

7. Link’s Hat

knittingpicturesasd.jpg

The hat looks warm, but why does the end need to be so long? What else are you keeping in your hat?8. Konami Logo

knittingexamplesgaming-1.jpg

For keeping Solid Snake’s wrists warm during his Alaskan sabbatical.

9. NES Afghan

knittingexamplesgaming-8.jpg

Drape this over your couch and bask in the 80s nostalgia.

10. Bonus Knit Game: courtesy of Aqua Teen Hunger Force

knittingexamplesgaming-5.jpg

All the challenge of knitting with none of the result!

Thanks to Flickr users: Jm3, Esmecat, Geekmom, Mackenzieeeee, Loxosceles, Greggman, 22180710@n03, Sachap, Marimbachick, and Yogineo for creating such great work!

Numbers 2 and 6 are crocheted.

The magnetic katamari and the LocoRoco appear to be crocheted, not knit. Just FYI.

    I like this designs.
It appears to be truly 8-bit style of a game. Very creative, I think.

I’m glad you like my pillow, but links to the original flickr pages of all these photos would be nice.

The mushroom pattern I used seems to be gone from the internet, but you can google for mario knitting patterns to find some other good stuff to knit! :)

Most of these patterns are available at http://craftzine.com/ , or at least links to them. Just try searching or browsing the blog section.

Wow, really happy to see that people like my Konami color knit project. I’m a big fan of the old Konami style music and NES music in general.

    Thanks. :)
