Awards are given out each year for video games by most news outlets across the world, some we look forward to, and others we could really care less about.

We listed the games we thought stood out from the pack in 2007 not long ago, but what about the opinions of those who make them?

The Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences, a non-profit organization that promotes awareness of the art and science of interactive video games and entertainment, have released their 11th Annual Interactive Achievement Awards.

The organization is run by a board of directors that include men and women from different companies around the industry, from Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo, and Entertainment Software Associated, to name a few.

Below is their list of winners broken down by category:

Best Overall Game (& Best Console Game): Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
Best PC Game: Half-Life 2: Orange Box
Best Family Game: Rock Band
Best MMORPG Game: World Of Warcraft: Burning Crusade
Best RPG Game: Mass Effect
Best Racing Game: Motorstorm
Best Adventure Game: Super Mario Galaxy
Best Strategy/Sim Game: Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars

Hmm, these do look like they are simply the most popular, as oppose to the best. Still, it’s good to see C&C3 getting some love.
