Denied Down Under: Dark Sector Banned In Australia Due To Excessive Violence
by Chad Lakkis on February 14, 2008 at 4:42 am

According to a recent report by IGN, the third person action game, Dark Sector, being published by D3 Publisher (who was nice enough to invite us to their GDC party) has been “refused classification” by the AGRB (Australian Game Ratings Board) due to the game’s excessive violent content.
The good news for Australian gamers is that the article closes by saying that the publisher will most likely make changes to the title and resubmit to the board. So much for those “no rules, just right” Outback Restaurant Commercials.

And no changes had to be made to GTA4? How strange.

They just don’t like how emo the guy looks. They said “Take off that fringe, or we’re banning it. We don’t want our kids wearing eye-liner and listening to Fall Out Boy.”.
They looked at me when they said it. Fact.

Huh, makes me wonder how it will fare in the UK. John is probably right, the ‘guy liner’ is probably a little too much!
