Well my point was that you don't have to use it to it's fullest, but many people would want to. I'll bring it up in the forums for a wider selection of opinions. Hopefully I'll see you there!

If you just jump from spot to spot then why use a human avatar? It seems like an MMORPG.. without the RPG. I don't get the appeal of loading up an app so I can jump into a 3d world where I can then use a menu system to load up a game. It seems like one HUGE middle man.

I remember having a house in dark age of camelot. Sure it was, interesting and I could decorate it but that didn't exactly light my world on fire and it's not somewhere I wanted to hang around for very long, I had other stuff to do. With "home".. that's pretty much it, unless I wnat to wander around the other ad-filled areas.

Like I said, I'm waiting to see some kind of new footage or information or something that'll make me more interested in this. Right now, I just don't see it.

What gives you the impression that it's 5x slower? You can jump to any area you like with the press of a button...you don't have to walk everywhere. Second Life etc are very popular and Home is really the natural progression. Communicating with your friends, inviting them into your apartment, showing them your trophies and then launching straight into a game, must have some natural human appeal.

I do agree I'm very skeptical, and that it won't be for everyone, but ignoring the possibilities and potential for the majority of the PS3 community would be shortsighted.

I honestly can't think of any. It seems like Xbox live, but uses 10x more system resources, is 5x slower and 10x more ads. That's why I'm having problems seeing the grand "home" vision.

Dave: What possible reasons for Home can you think of and which ways it would be an advantage for consumers and Sony?

More info will be at GDC.

Hopefully some video footage or extra info on this once it's out convinces me but.. right now I REALLY don't see the point of "home".

This is sounding good, but I'm going to keep my pessimistic hat on for just a little while longer.

if you check out this link you will also find that when you select your console list as PS3 you can then select Home in the next drop box when making a grief report.
