High-Res Artwork for Heavenly Sword Sequel?

by Patrick Steen on February 19, 2008 at 5:39 pm

At least we presume the artwork is for a Heavenly Sword sequel, since Ninja Theory has stated that it is a three game series. Have a gander at the High-res artwork after the jump.

Ninja Theory’s website has been updated with a more mature and darker look, along with news of their next project:

Right now we’re working on an exciting new concept that has got everyone we talk to buzzing. We can’t say a lot except that it’s going to be great to work on and should be even better to play!

It’ll take all the things we loved about Heavenly Sword and make them bigger and better than ever before.

With such a strong Playstation 3 engine and vision for their Heavenly Sword project, could this be artwork for an exciting sequel set in a future post-apocalyptic time? A time that might be waiting for the immortal Heavenly Sword to save its people? Or does the concept art suggest a completely new IP?

If Ninja Theory Keeps close to the theme of the 1st one; then this screen shot is about 1 of 12 of the entire game that will last anywhere from 1 – 10 hours of GLORIOUS ONE RUN FUN. Hopefully this game won’t be delayed for a whole generation of consoles like the 1st HS.

Em: Heavenly Sword was not delayed for a whole generation. It was designed as a “next-gen” game from its conception. It was never meant to be on the Xbox, even if you show me an “Xboxyde” video – the footage is running on a PC.

It’s very possible that this could be the sequel, since the sword is immortal and has the power to influence any generation. I’d expect each of the HS games to occur in a different era, telling the story of how the sword effects people throughout the eras.

If anything I hope the much rumor sequels will be longer and bigger than the first one. IMO six to ten hours of game play to complete the first game is way too short.

There will be no sequel to Heavenly Sword.
