1UP Visits Nobuo Uematsu

In what you can see as a spiritual successor to James Mielke’s visit to Final Fantasy artist Yoshitaka Amano; Milky and Ryan O’Donnell both yet again headed towards Japan to meet long-time Final Fantasy composer, Nobuo Uematsu.

What ensued was an exceptionally in-depth interview that amounted into a 16,000 word interview. On Milky’s blog he stated “but I think it’s one of the best things I’ve been involved with so far,” it’s easy to see why. You can clearly see how much he cared about this project, especially when you watch the video.

I know how tough it may be to read through 16,000 words. Thus, it was a great move to put it up as a video. It would sure as shit be a shame for this to be passed up simply for its length. It can all be seen in three separate videos of approximately 20 minutes each, along with 8 minutes of footage that was left on the cutting room floor.

That means you have no real reason to pass it up, and shouldn’t. Milky also posted an unusually brief blog, quickly stating how he felt about the trip, the people involved and the experience as a whole.

This is a rare piece and it’s a true exemplification of what’s right with games journalism. Enjoy the first video here, then make your way to Gamevideos for parts two and three.
