Fable 2 Co-op Officially Revealed, Heart-Strings Pulled

by Dan Landis on February 20, 2008 at 4:59 pm

fable2-1.jpg

A few minutes ago at the Microsoft keynote, Peter Molyneux officially showed off the online co-op of the upcoming Fable 2.

Unfortunately for him, however, his in-game friend happened to murder Peter’s wife right in front of him. Oh yeah, Peter Molyneux is a red-headed chick with some nice boobs, which came as quite a shock to me. He looks much different on camera.

So his in-game character is female, which looked pretty nice. He apparently got pregnant at some point, but said that there is no childbirth minigame. Damn…

Peter comes home from a six-month stint away from his family and is instantly assaulted with love from his 5-year-old son. His husband appears slightly angry at Peter for being away so long, so Peter’s co-op partner decides to shoot him in the face.

Choose your friends wisely because this event is permanent. Peter’s husband is dead. No respawns, no second life. He is gone forever, and Peter is one sad girl.

The co-op itself is drop-in/drop-out, so no need to set up a game beforehand. The host player remains the same character while the joining player becomes a henchman based off of a character from their own game.

Fable 2 will be demoed again on Friday, all by itself. Check back for more coverage and info on what looks to be another sure-fire hit for the Molynator.

    Watched the video on GameTrailers.com
After being burned on the first Fable I’m actually looking forward to this game.

Hopefully the game actually contains more than 6 hours of things to do. I had to play Fable through 3 times to get my money’s worth, and even then I was disappointed by such a cool concept be hampered by such a short length. But co-op is a HUGE addition in my book. I can’t wait to pick this one up and do some hackin’ n slashin’ with a friend. Any word on Xbox Live co-op?

The game looked absolutely STUNNING, imo.

Looks pretty sweet indeed. I just hope that this one lives up to it’s potential. Fable was great and all, but wasn’t really all it could have been. I think the slider to determine how money/xp/reknown is shared is a stroke of pure genius. Something that small can make a big impact on games like this. I can’t wait hehehehehheheheheeeeeee :)

My biggest concern is loading times. I remember the first Fable and my main gripe with it was the amount of loading and the time it took to load everytime you wanted to go from one area to the next.
Fable 2 looks amazing and with what they’ve implemented so far I’m waiting with anticipation.
