Grand Theft Auto IV DLC to Arrive in Fall ‘08

by Dylan Duarte on February 21, 2008 at 8:09 am

At this year’s Game Developers Conference, Microsoft has stated that GTA IV’s upcoming Xbox-exclusive downloadable content is scheduled to hit in fall of this year.

Not much has been said about what the DLC will include, but episodic content has been mentioned in the past.

Grand Theft Auto IV is scheduled to hit both the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 on April 29th, but the DLC remains an Xbox exclusive.

Why get it for the PS3 if the episodic content is 360 exclusive?

“Two downloadable chapters will be exclusive to the Xbox 360. All other downloadable content released will be available through the PLAYSTATION Store as well.”

From some blog or other. I’d think it’ll come out on PS3 too eventually.

I hear it’ll be special 2 minute missions so 360 users can play them in full before their console explodes in a fiery ring of death :o)

    JOKE!

I can GUARANTEE you these two exclusive episodes will remain exclusive, forever. Microsoft paid BIG money just for that. They won’t let these go to sony, period.

And that, my friend, is why Microsoft are the enemy of the gaming public. They’re quite literally buying customers, “Full stop”.

lol, sorry, I spent years wondering why people in american films etc said “period”. My next quest is to discover the reasoning behind “already”.

Anyhoo, stuff the downloadable content, give (all of) us the damn game already! :o)

Well I wouldn’t say that, exclusivity deals have been going on for a long time in the gaming industry, this is nothing new.

But yeah, I agree.. I want the game already o_O

And this is why I am getting it for my 360, as oppose to my PS3. Kind of a shame the PS3 people couldn’t push as hard as the MS peeps to get the content on both, but hey, not complaining.

They said both versions were identical so either way it should be awesome, but personally I wouldn’t forgo the extra content if I had a choice.

all dlc is a joke. especially if you buy it drm infected from live on 350’s guaranteed to fail hardware.

I’m dubious about DLC myself, it’s not perfect on the PS3 either. I guess it comes down to how badly you want the extra content, but i feel its gotta be exactly that, EXTRA content. I don’t want dev’s releasing games that are not finished, and then using DLC to add what should be there in the first place.

    Yay, now registered :o)

    DGX… true

Yeah DLC is somewhat annoying, depending on what it is. I was stunned when downloading the time attack thing for Motorstorm, which was 100k??? Um, I mean I’m no programmer, well actually I am, but wouldn’t really need to be to realise that 100k does not an upgrade make, that’s just switching something on. Sure, it didn’t cost anything but you know, maybe a test or something? Ultimately, we want games to be full of stuff in the first place, addons for the insanely insatiable. Oblivion being the perfect example, plenty to go on with in the first place then SI with loads more (despite the numerous crashes on the PS3, oops). But yeah, we don’t want to go down the road of DLC becoming the guts of a game, unless that game is cheaper to begin with. It’s got to be worth it, too easy to be taken advantage of by less scrupulous publishers.

So as I said before, bring on the GTA IV, it’s been too long! Would more James Woods be asking too much? Best in game(story sequence) character EVER!

    @ LC

If you want anyone to take you as anything other than a whiny fanboy, you might try that one again.

    on February 22, 2008 6:56 am

a whiny fanboy who only owns his second xbox 350 and not a wii or a ps3, right. Fck off!

    on February 22, 2008 10:03 pm

Cry me a river, I’ve had 3 xbox 360s break on me. That doesn’t mean I’m going to come here and start spouting badly spelled whiny garbage.

  15. LC
    on February 22, 2008 10:24 pm

your an idiot. i don’t like dlc or its drm infection. it doesn’t make me a fanboy to say micros dlc policy combined with sub par hardware is shit for the consumer. you don’t like my comments or spelling to effing bad cnt! go play gaylo and stfu!

  16. shamon
    on February 23, 2008 10:29 pm

i cant get it for the 360 because i been through six systems and i dont want the red rings to come from my long hours of playing this game

  17. DavidGX
    on February 24, 2008 2:58 am

It doesn’t make you a fanboy to dislike the DRM, I don’t like it either. Saying stupid things like “gaylo” and “xbox 350″ makes you either a whiny fanboy or incredibly immature. Even if that’s not your intention, it’s how you’re coming across here.

  18. LC
    on February 25, 2008 12:28 am

immature? I guess the 350 and I have something in common. maybe next year we will grow up.

Ill stick with the Xbox 360 Elite because im not gonna contribute to PS3 when little 7 year olds are manufacturing the systems. Chinese = PS3, America = Xbox RROD doesnt happen often don’t worry and god forbid if you got Red Ring of Death Xbox will fix it you will get it back in 2 weeks along with a free game.

Sorry PS3 you do have an amazing movie player but sorry no good game player

  20. Patrick Steen
    on April 8, 2008 1:04 pm

Pork: The Xbox 360 is also manufactured in China. If children were involved in the production of either console there would be a huge outcry about it. They aren’t. If you don’t have a PS3 how do you know it’s a good movie player?

well your 360 exclusive dlc has been smashed. ps3 is getting its own dlc also.

  23. DavidGX
    on May 12, 2008 6:04 am

The ps3 will not be getting the two episodes microsoft paid rockstar for so.. nothing has been “smashed” as no one ever said the ps3 version would never get ANY dlc. Just not these two episodes.
