Havok Complete Given Away To PC Developers

by Roly Reyes on February 23, 2008 at 10:47 pm

havok for free

Going the way of Steamworks and DreamSpark, Havok has also made the decision to offer Havok Complete. The move is sponsored by Intel, who says they’re “very pleased to be sponsoring this direction in the PC market.”

“This aligns well with our ongoing strategy of putting the best software tools in the hands of PC games developers,” Intel said. Havok Complete includes their proprietary core physics engine along with their animation software.

Although this is great news for aspiring developers, if you’re planning on adding Havok to your game, you may have to wait until May, as that’s the tentative month set for release. There’s no mention of console support, so if you’re one of those who are interested in the XNA initiative you may be left out in the cold.

I’m wondering how many technologically savvy developers will jump on these tools as opposed to the physics engines that may already be available for download, if there are any. If any of you are developing a game, feel free to comment or create a thread on our board and give us your perspective on this.

Im waiting for this to come out, but no news about the release of this and we are getting to the end of may.
I been developing a game and tested several Physics libs like ODE, Newton, and PhysX, but none of them provide a unified solution with characters animation.Havok looks promising in this aspect and im awaiting to play with it, i guess we have to wait.
