EA’s Top Secret GTA V Screenshot & Tech Demo Discovered

Many of us have been holding our breath since EA made its initial offer to buy Take-Two, and the company’s comment, stating that they would wait until the release of Grand Theft Auto IV before discussing the offer any further, did very little to ease that sick feeling in our stomachs.
EA, who has been known to tone down the violent content of their games and splurge on in game advertising (as shown above), is set to destroy our beloved Grand Theft Auto franchise. The top secret tech demo showcasing EA’s take on the series is not for the faint of heart.

How could Take-Two ever let something like this happen? The Grand Theft Auto franchise deserves to go down in history as one of the greatest games ever made — remembered for its controversy, not its excessive in game advertising. The horror!
Ok, you got me, this is an obvious satire piece, however it does offer a potential eerie glimpse into the future. Hopefully this crosses the desk of a few key individuals at Take-Two and makes them think twice before allowing EA to place their thumb print on such a beloved franchise.
Special thanks to Jon over at slashfilm for the Coke video suggestion.

I’m not worried. As much as I love the GTA franchise, I feel that they aren’t doing anything new (granted I haven’t played IV yet) and it’s starting to become the Tony Hawk of sandbox games.
Plus if EA ever ruined GTA there are other great sandbox games out there, like Saints Row, Crackdown, APB, and Prototype. There are other games to enjoy in the absence of GTA.

From what I gathered, it sounds like Rockstar North (the developers) are safe from EA’s clutches, depending on negotiation I guess. As long as that’s true and I think I can guess what their thoughts on the EA takeover will be, GTA itself will be safe, at least in one form or another. Who knows, maybe we’ll end up with a boring sanitised GTA, with a new game waiting in the wings to take the piss out of it :o) There’s no reason they couldn’t find another publisher, there’s been plenty GTA clones over the years.
Then again rumours are to be believed and EA are remaking Road Rash, there may still be hope for the off-the-wall type game. Incidentally, Road Rash (an EA game) was the source of my favourite ever in-game advert. A simple billboard which said “BUY THINGS” :o) Had us in stiches a few times that one um, back in the day!

Im not worried at all EA make good games
and if they (EA) do fu*k up GTA V R* will sure as hell kick them out

yeah… thats a coca-cola ad.. and its not been mentioned from any reputable source that it has ANYTHING to do with GTA or Rock Star… and as for the guy above (pauljenkins123) IF EA BOUGHT Take-Two and its properties (R* too) R* could not ‘Kick Them Out’ as they would be owned by EA so the book would start and end with EA… personally I dislike EA they make the same products time and again and they have no taste… which need for speed are we on now? and how alike are they all? ONE of the kudos they can have is the sims.. and that was made by Maxis… TBH i dont think anyone would destroy the GTA franchise deliberately simply because it has a wide fan base and is a highly profitable franchise! so dont worry guy GTA is safe!
P.S
Road Rash was pretty amazing
