to me the add on HD-DVD looked like a big waste, if it was part of the unit in the first place It would have at least given the format a better foothold because, Like Sony there would have been a market for HD-DVD in production of games as well as movies.Microsoft essentially “screwed the pooch” on HD-DVD.
BUT! WE would have had to deal with a longer drawn out format war. and in reality we needed a standard.
as for HI-def downloads blah, when it comes to movies, I want to be able to have physical media, anything could happen with a download, I don’t want to worry about having a “proof of purchase” for all my movies if my HD gets toasted. not to mention the size of the downloads.

high definition downloads are a joke, you see the reports that say by 2012 americans will only have 10mbps connections in about 30 million homes? downloads are going nowhere fast with those kinds of speeds.

Any Blu-ray addition to the 360 would almost certainly be an add-on, no? Just like the HD-DVD drive it would be an option for people to whom it was important.

tbh, with the increase in digital distribution, I wouldn’t bother getting a blu-ray drive unless it was nice and cheep.

I have one in my PS3, but for films, digital download is much better for me.
