Far Cry 2: Consoles Not A Far Cry From PC
by Kev Lochun on March 15, 2008 at 10:07 pm

Speaking at Play.com Live, Far Cry 2 designer Peter Redding told us that the common expectation was that the PC version was going to be infinetely better than either the PS3 or 360. He also told us why that’s a load of rubbish.
“We’re not changing any aspect of the game,” says Peter, after running through Far Cry 2’s 50km2 open environment in a 20 minute PC demonstration – more on that at a later date. “All the same content will be in console versions that you’ve seen here; all the same systems and all the same mechanics.”
But he dodged the bullet about how much better the PC version would be: “The expectation is that for someone playing on a really good high-end PC, it is going to be amazing. But the console version is going to be fanastic.”
Turns out the version we were watching was the still a November 2007 build. “I played the 360 build last week and it’s already looking better than this.”
He made no mention of the PS3 version, beyond confirming that Far Cry 2 would be released on all three platforms.
More of our impressions soon.

November build looked great but if the 360 one looks better UBisoft is doing incredible job. It could be the shooter of the year in 2008. But lets say they dont limit the PC version for that. It should look better when a 8800 is used along with 3 GB’s or above of RAM. But hose with 7800, 7900 and 8600 series will be near out standards (console standards) and its more likely happening in most of the games.
Also the November build was looking no less stellar than crysis the artstyle was definitely better but the shading done in Cryteks shooter is still a little better, since this game is getting better in visuals then it could be equivalent to crysis on high settings on consoles and PC version would perform better requiring less hardware than crysis.

Xbox 360 is the best, thats why. Why no talk about the ps3 version…?

@Michael, the PS3 version will be the same as the 360 version. I guess the differences will be found by only the hardest of hardcore fanboys.
If they can get this game running in HD, high frame rate and looking that good on any console, it’s going to be hot.

I’v got the 360 version but cant play it yet because my xbox got rrod at a rather inconvenient time) But the 360 and ps3 version are EXACTLY the same. and of course the pc version looks AMAZING however on the console versions at least, where the yexelled in detail, like fire and foliage they really failed in the textures, they are ps2 standard in some places. It’s like halo 3s glass- every were else beautiful, just one problem…
