Chinese PS3 Manufacturer Wins Xbox 360 Contract

Maybe not all systems are created equal, but it turns out a lot of them are built by the same company.
Digitimes reports that Pegatron Technology and Unihan Technology recently secured an OEM order (Original Equipment Manufacturer: the original manufacturer of a component for a product, which may be resold by another company – Thanks Wikipedia!) to begin producing Xbox 360s to the tune of 500,000 systems a month.
Pegatron and Unihan are also OEM producers of Sony’s PlayStation 3. So, many systems will share a common place of birth – China, of course. Hopefully this should sort out Microsoft’s reported Xbox 360 shortages and get them all set in time for GTA IV.
