As far as rebuying everything, that’s pointless if you have broadband. It’s a stupid system I agree but as long as your console is always online it’s never a big issue.

yeah let microsoft take your brand new system and exchange it for someone else’s poorly cared for console.

my advice is avoid buying dlc and dealing with microsoft directly unless you like getting screwed out of your time and money.

I bought my first 360 in February with the falcon chipset and it died in 5 days. my second one lasted longer but I suspect its likely to suffer some defect eventually.

As far as being cheaper, it is if you don’t want/need wireless or a blu-ray drive, which is the case for me. The gaming router I bought recently doesn’t even have it, and that was by choice. Not that having that wouldn’t be good in some situations for some people, but I don’t care for it or need it. If the 360 is cheaper or more expensive, all things considered, is irrelevant for me because the 360 has more games that I enjoy which is pretty much the whole point of getting a system.

As for the RROD being solved… maybe.. All Elites shipping now have motherboards with shrunken (less heat) CPUs and extra cooling. I’ve heard somewhere that the Elites have a lower failure rate, although it’s still too high. My standard Xbox 360 died on me three times, my Elite hasn’t died yet, so we’ll see.

I agree, what the hell’s the point of this story if it’s just to point out to us common people that we can’t get one??? Hmff, an elite for the elite eh?

Also, 60 feckin quid for a wireless network adapter? And people still believe it’s cheaper than a PS3, well that’s total bullshit. Then there’s the extra for the controller chargers or else you use AA batteries!!!! I mean WTF, is this the 20th century???

Sorry but I’m still thinking about getting a 360 so I can play the exclusives but shit like that still puts me off. It’s funny how you can get used to usb charged wireless controllers, automatic wireless network connectivity and a blu-ray drive. And also the RROD. Is that fixed yet? Some fanboys on Amazon claim it is, but is it really?

And yes, I’d have jumped at the chance to buy one of those. Bastards :o)
