Steam + Ubisoft = Win

Ubisoft has decided to join the ranks of many a publisher on Valve’s digital distribution platform Steam. Is there any real reason for us to report on these anymore? This is no joke, we’re not trying to fool you — we promise.

Ubisoft has made an ample chunk of their library available for purchase on Steam. That library includes major players from the Tom Clancy series, the Heroes of Might & Magic series, and not a far cry from these will be Far Cry — see what I did there? Sorry guys, I know that it’s used to death. My bad.

The IL-2 Sturmovik series is also available for purchase, which from what I gather is a fairly niche flight simulator. Don’t expect too many sales on that front, although hardcore flight sim fans are probably fairly excited at the announcement.

And if flight sims aren’t quite your bag, how about assassin simulator? That should get Jack Thompson’s knickers in a twist, if nothing else does.  The superior PC version of Assassin’s Creed* is set to join its Ubisoft counterparts on April 9th, and is available for pre-purchase on Steam.

Whether or not Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 will be one of the Tom Clany games to show up on Steam as well — the PC version releases on 4/15 — is yet to be answered.

A nice little factoid is that Ubisoft now holds the record for most titles on Steam at one time from a single publisher, something they can be proud of.
