The $40 Million Prince

British born Hollywood heartthrob Orlando Bloom is reportedly set to star in Disney’s upcoming Prince of Persia film. Based on the popular video game series, the deal is estimated to be worth in the region of forty million dollars.
Bloom, of Lord of the Rings and Pirates of the Caribbean fame, reportedly beat off competition from High School Musical star Zac Efron, to secure the starring role. Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, the first of a possibile trilogy, will begin shooting in Morocco in July of this year, with a tentative 2009 release date pencilled in.
With other big names such as producer Jerry Bruckheimer, and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire director, Mike Newell also on board, hopes are high that this will be a video game adaptation that doesn’t disappoint. Here’s hoping anyway!
