Guitar Hero Taking On Rock Band?

Activision CEO Bobby Kotick has let slip that future iterations of the Guitar Hero franchise will embrace multiple instruments.
This of course opens up the possibility that future iterations will run head-to-head with Rock Band; not a bad place to be when you hold the back catalog of the Universal Music Group.
Speaking to Condé Nast’s Portfolio.com, Kotick revealed that this was part of a strategy to cultivate a truly global fan base.
“It’s not just about guitars. We’ll include a lot of other instruments, vocals. It will help us expand internationally. It’s the first game we’ve had in which we can use local content and local bands.”
Beyond vocals, Kotick doesn’t talk specifics, so it really depends on how local we’re going to go. Are we going to stick with guitar bands or will see something a bit more regional? I wouldn’t say no to a set of steel drums for shits and giggles.
