We Have Our Priorities Mixed Up

Quick! To the Gamestop!
Tonight is the night. After so long, at the stroke of midnight, neurotic, pixel-crime loving consumers will be heard around the world as they stand outside one of the 260 GAME stores and one of the zillion GameStops that will be hosting a midnight launch for Grand Theft Auto IV.
As averse as I am to the purpose that Metacritic serves, I couldn’t help but give the GTA IV Metacritic page a once over, with unsurprising results. As of the time of writing, it was maintaining a strong 99 out of 100 universal acclaim, putting it among the highest rated of all games, making the genius BioShock take a backseat and shoving aside the cumulative quality of The Orange Box.
Is that the straw that broke the camel’s back, making you want it now?
Tell us, readers. What responsibilities will you not-so-painfully be ridding yourself of to be one of those zombie-like consumers tonight? Skipping school? Has some “thing” been going around your workplace lately? I doubt it’s a coincidence the amount of absences that will be seen internationally.
Or, like me, are you having to tough it out through the week, praying for the end of the week to arrive quickly so you can do nothing but just sit in front of your screen and soak up every bit of Liberty City?
Fill us in — something to read may make the wait shorter.

My only question is: Does this game deserve the 99/100 its received, or is this just the product of a lot of hype? I want to know if this really is the greatest game evar!!!1! or just another overhyped game thats been getting 10s across the board before its even been released publicly. Seeing as how I can’t play the game in my current predicament, I lay the burden on you, my fellow ripten writers, to come up with fairest, most unbiased review on the whole of the internets! Do me proud.

Just playing through the early parts of the game now…it draws you in nicely so far. I’ll be reviewing it on my blog this week.

To me this seems an obvious attempt at negating Metacritic’s influence on the industry. These game systems need to be able to scale back. So that if a game comes out that is better than GTA IV that GTA IV ends up being a 90 or something similar to that.
As it sits, games like the Ocarina of Time enjoy super high ratings and by all rights they should have been dethroned a LOOOONG time ago.

I love all the GTA from the 1rst one but no game is a 10/10 or 100/100 that would mean that there is no room for improvment. And we all know that there is always room for improuvement.

I just beat the game in one week and I would give the game a 10/10 and I’m just 11 and a gameing master.
