First Ever Gears of War 2 Gameplay Footage

So the first gameplay footage has been released and is making the online rounds. Hit the jump for the video and my thoughts.

Yes.

This is what I wanted from the first Gears. Call me a blasphemer if you must (seriously, the comments section is below), but I wasn’t the biggest fan of the first game. It was pretty good, no doubt, but I found it to be way, way too short and after that, not very memorable.

After the awesome teaser – the one that showed a ruined dystopia while Gary Jules’ Mad World played in the background – I was expecting something epic. What I got was a game that looked good, had a neat premise, and was fun to play, but stopped just shy of greatness.

Gears 2 looks to remedy by really cranking up the scale. Sure, Gears 1 had its jaw-dropping moments, but if this trailer is any indication, the entirety of Gears 2 will have your jaw on the floor.

    I completely agree with you Dylan, while the first one looked good I didn’t seem to get the WOW factor which everyone else was getting from it. Perhaps I’m getting old in my age and needing more substance to the story etc but Gears 2 certainly looks more epic.

    I’m on the same page as you two. Gears was fun. I loved playing it, especially co-op. But it was short, and I felt like it promised more than it delivered. I remember the first fight with a Berzerker was so intense, challenging, and spectacularly fun, that I was simply disappointed I never got that feeling again.

    The video looks good. I hope this one is a bit longer cause the 1rst was way too short… Looks like they put some work into the shading and the colours look so much better not that the first one had any problems this just looks even better. in the words of borat “I LIKE…”
