New HD Prince of Persia Screens Surface

by Beau Rosser on May 22, 2008 at 9:06 pm

prince-1titleimage-copy.jpg

Ubisoft’s new cell-shaded Prince of Persia has garnered mixed feelings from the gaming public, but I personally love the art direction the series has been given and cannot wait for the game’s eventual release.

The cell shading presented in the below images is certainly impressive, and I would imagine that the game looks even cooler in motion (we’ll see at E3, I bet). Here’s hoping that the Prince’s movements are just as smooth as Altair’s from Assassin’s Creed, if not more so.

The concept art and in-game screenshots are almost indistinguishable, with even subtle details like the Prince’s arms looking as if they are hand drawn. This attention the detail alludes to the amount of care and consideration that’s been put into the game.

Currently, Prince of Persia does not have a definitive release date, but it can be assumed that Ubisoft will release more information in the next coming months. Until then, you may drool over these images.

Damn, I love the fairy-tale book style of art they are going for here. very nice!I read an article that the art is more detailed than standard cell shading though. It was in this months issue of Game Informer.

has it been considered that having to scroll to look at each image over and over might be inconvenient?

I don’t know why they don’t have a window pop-up like everybody else to scroll through the images.

also having a nice video player like CvG has is really nice as well, linking somewhere else to see a video is really annoying.
