Fallout 3: Al Qaeda’s Terrifying Vision of the Future?

by Andrew Podolsky on May 30, 2008 at 1:18 pm

Daily Mail

Terrorists know no limits when it comes to threats of violence– sort of like how tabloids know no limits when it comes to poor taste or incorrect facts. Check out this “terrifying vision” of the future, printed in UK rag The Daily Mail, which is actually a repurposed screenshot from Bethesda’s Fallout 3.

I guess we can’t expect the journalistic geniuses at the Daily Mail to take it easy on games– after all, they’ve claimed that games are corrupting our children’s values and calling them fat. But could we expect this tabloid to contact anybody at Bethesda to comment on their apparent links to terrorism?

Check out the original screenshot, added May 8, 2007, on this Gamespot page, and compare it to the newspaper image, shown at the top of this story. Congratulations, Daily Mail. You’ve won the race to the bottom. What’s next, Mad Max as a horrifying vision of a future without oil?

(Thanks to Ripten writer John Kershaw for spotting this obscenity.)
